The Internationally renowned companies in construction industry, Somocer (an industrial company specialized in the production and marketing of ceramic tiles and sanitary ware products) and Sotemail (a company specialized in the manufacture and marketing of porcelain stoneware ceramics for floor and wall coverings); are the first two companies in Africa to obtain the QB UPEC certification, an internationally recognizedquality prestigious certification for the building industry.
Associated with the QB (Quality in Building) certification mark, the UPEC classification is intended to certify the compliance of floorings with the technical specifications defined in a Certification Standardand enables the attribution of a classification of usage to floorings. This classification provides indicationson each product’s area of use, with sufficient and reasonable durability.
Certification is recognition by a third party (CSTB France) of the conformity of characteristics demonstrating the added value of Somocer Group products.
The certified characteristics of QB application associated with UPEC classification – Ceramic tiles for floorings- are as follows: dimensional and planar data, water absorption, abrasion resistance, Flexural mechanical strength, Resistance to shocks, resistance to heavy rolling, resistance to ordinary and chemical staining agents of low and high concentration.
The QB UPEC certification mark aims to provide a safe and simple way to choose high quality floorings, depending on the intensity of usein the areas where it will be laid. It is a guarantee of the floorings’quality and suitability.
UPEC classification, associated with the QB certification, provides key information to prescribers to help them choose quality floorings, the performance of which meets the specific requirements of 10 categories of areas: Domestic areas, offices, stations and airports, commercial areas, hotels, educational premises, hospitals, nursing homes for the elderly, sports halls, kitchens and restaurants.
It is worth noting that 85 companies have obtained QB UPEC certification. They are from various countries: Italy, Spain, France, Turkey, Denmark, Poland, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, the United Arab Emirates and, of course, Tunisia through Somocer and Sotemail, which hence confirms that ‘they are a real source of pride for Tunisian industry”.
